Question

For both audio and visual technologies, identify one traditional and one emerging technology from the book, and explain how you could potentially use all four devices in the classroom.

Traditional Audio: One example of a traditional audio devise is a cassette or CD player. These devises can be used for listening to books on tape/CD in the classroom. Primary students can benefit by following along with a printed book of the reading.

Traditional Visual: Bulletin boards are a traditional form of visual technology. Bulletin boards can display a variety of print and visuals in the classroom. Bulletin boards around the classroom can help visual learners pick up on lessons in a different way than lecture.

Emerging Audio: MP3 players and iPods are examples of emerging audio devises. These devises can be used to set a relaxing atmosphere in the classroom.

Emerging Visual: Examples of emerging visual technology are live cams and web cams. These emerging technologies can provide a classroom with a virtual "field trip" to places never thought possible, such as the Louvre.
